ALFORD Town Council has rejected plans to build 93 houses on a site off Willoughby Road.

The council unanimously rejected Chestnut Homes’ proposals for the new Alford housing estate when they held their latest meeting last week.

“The development was considered too intensive and would have a detrimental affect on the town’s vitality and viability,” said a spokesperson for the council.

“It was also felt that there were brown field sites within the town which should be developed before green field sites were developed,” they added.
