Burgh Monday Club members and friends have had a busy time recently.
As well as a sausage and mash supper in the village hall, and a shopping trip to Peterborough, they also enjoyed a five-day festive break at Warner’s Thoresby Hall in Nottingham just last week.
During the week there were excursions to Hucknall to the church of Mary Magdalen where Lord Byron is buried.
They also visited the Museum of Nottingham Life and enjoyed a lunch at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, the oldest inn in the country.
While on their travels they also visited the caves underneath the Broadmarsh shopping centre and the Galleries of Justice, where re-enactments took place.
“Group member Lance Disney found himself ‘in the dock’ as George Beck who was executed for arson,” said a spokesperson. “Other members of the group found themselves either being deported for such crimes as blackmail or theft and others were sentenced to execution. Makes you glad you live in this century.”
The five day trip was organised by Chris Bassford.
