CLOSED - Rumours that the Late shop in Burgh was closing have proved true, the shop closed its doors on Saturday, March, 8.

GARDEN - Burgh Garden Club will meet next Wednesday, March 26, at the Burgh Baptist Church, The Causeway.

Doors open at 7pm and the guest speaker will be Johnny Walker from Holbeach on the A to Z of bulbs. All will be welcome refreshments included.

HERITAGE - You can’t beat a cup of tea, as members of the Heritage Group discovered last Monday, when Gary Brown spoke on the history of tea, explaining the heath properties of some of the teas on display.

He described tea making ceremonies and spoke about the tea clippers

It was interesting to learn that the tea bag is not such a modern invention as the first one was produced in 1903. Members were also able to sample some of the teas.

At the meeting on Monday, March 24, the subject will be ‘What’s That Bygone’, with speaker Mike Morgan.

This will be the last meeting in the current series.

LINE - The popular yet informal line dance group lines up for footwork, friendship and fun at Burgh Baptist Church on Wednesdays at 2pm. For more details contact Margaret on 01754 810081.

LUNCH - There will be a Lent Lunch in the parish church of St Peter and Paul next Monday, March, 24, from 12 noon to 1.30pm. Tickets are £3 and are available from Mrs Marvin or Mrs Capes. Proceeds to St Andrews Hospice, Grimsby.

NURSING - Parish Nursing Drop In at Burgh Baptist church is held on Fridays from 10am to 11.45am.

People of all ages are welcome to pop in for a check up, support or prayer with Nurse Mandy and the team (No appointment necessary) or just enjoy a chat over coffee and scones.

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Group offers support and friendship for those facing loneliness from various circumstances. Prayer is offered if desired.

The Group also enjoy outings to different venues and guest speakers from time to time. Meetings are held on Wednesdays, from 10.30am to noon, at Burgh Baptist church.

PRAM - The Pram and Toddlers Group meet every Wednesday in the Village Hall from 10am until noon.

Meetings take place on the first Wednesday of the month, in the parish church at 2pm.

PRAYER - The Women’s World Day of Prayer service was held in Burgh Baptist church with representatives from the Anglican, Baptist, Methodist and Catholic churches taking part.

The service was prepared by the Christian Women of Egypt and the speaker Theresa Culpin used as her theme, the resilience of Egyptian women throughout the ages.

Theresa had spent some years in Egypt as a teacher.

The pianist was Marie Schofield.

Refreshments, including Egyptian delacacies made by Theresa Culpin, were served at the end.

STATIONS - There is Stations of the Cross, next Monday, March, 24, at the parish church of St Peter and Paul at 6pm.

YOUTH - Burgh Baptist church’s youth meetings are as follows: Impact chills out on Mondays at 6.30pm for Year six and up. Kings Club meets on Tuesdays for reception to year five and Little Treasures Parents and Toddlers gather on Thursdays at 1.30pm.

Newcomers are always warmly welcomed to any of these groups.
