A series of fundraising activities has made it possible for a group of brothers and their family to help bring a little cheer to families who have also been affected by road tragedies.
The Matthew Alexander Steels-Chambers (MASC) fundraising team held a sponsored bike ride, a three mile dog walk, and a three hour MMA bout, which was held at SFK in Skegness recently.
A total of £740 was raised from these events has been divided between several good causes to help and also commemorate Wainfleet man and brother, Matthew, who died in a road accident aged 20 in August 2008.
“We have now been able to buy a drum kit for a deserving musical family of brothers, as Matthew believed in the importance of music and was an accomplished drummer in a local band with his own brothers,” said Marianne Chambers, his mother.
“We have also been able to send £200 to the charity RoadPeace, as losing a loved one in a crash is devastating, so they are working hard to support the families that are left behind,” she added.
A cheque for £200 was also sent to The Compassionate Friends, who offer a helpline service to bereaved families who have suffered the loss of a child.
The remainder of the money has been used to help support children this Christmas.
