A QUIET residential street in Skegness was sealed off by police and a bomb disposal squad called out after cylinders with fuses were found by children.
Waddington Way was cordoned off, as police officers examined the scene on Sunday (May 29). The bomb disposal unit arrived at 6pm to remove the two foot long cardboard cylinders which had red powder in. The cylinders are thought to be industrial fireworks used in large displays but investigations are ongoing.
Gail Redford, nearby resident, said: “I live on the street and I had just come back from my sister in laws and place and when I arrived the whole road was blocked off for almost two hours.
“It was a bit of a shock when one of my neighbours told me it was a bomb scare. The police told us to stay indoors and keep all windows and doors shut.”
