A £125,000 facelift has been given to South Market Place in Alford which has transformed the area and made it the envy of the market towns across the UK.

Considerable changes have been made to the marketplace, with the development of a new pedestrianised area and the construction of a tailor-made, Victorian style bus shelter.

The whole area has been re-paved using high quality Yorkstone and new seating has been introduced, alongside new cycle parking and information boards.

The South Marketplace is in the heart of Alford and has played host to markets and events for millennia.

Officers from Lincolnshire County Council’s transportation team have worked closely with the local community over the last year; as well as with Alford Town Council and East Lindsey District Council, to make sure the changes are all in keeping with the town’s unique character.
