WRITER, broadcaster and bird guide David Lindo is set to give a talk and book signing at the Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve south of Skegness this Sunday, Novemer 20.
He will be signing copies of his book ‘The Urban Birder’ in the visitor centre from 2pm to 4pm.
As the book title suggests, David is an expert in birdwatching in an urban environment.
David said: “When birding in a city try to see the world as how a bird would see it.
“Ignore people, see buildings as craggy lumps of rock and imagine that the bush you are looking at is filled with food and on a remote headland.
“That is urban birding.”
A spokesperson for the centre said: David’s book has been described as an inspirational look at the birdlife in our cities, or more accurately, the author’s personal journey of discovery involving encounters with racism, air rifle toting youths, alcohol, music finding urban wildlife oases and, of course, birds.
“His story is entertaining and sometimes controversial but the one guarantee is that the reader will be left feeling inspired enough to pick up a pair of binoculars and head to the nearest park,” they added.
Tickets to the talk cost £10 per person, including refreshments and are available from Gibraltar Point. Call 01754 898 057 option 1. Payment by card should be made when booking.
