Competition hots up to find best of Caistor's gardens

The weather was hot but the competition was even hotter as the judges turned out for the Caistor in Bloom garden competitions.

Grimsby in Bloom chairman Elaine Atkinson and vice chairman Liz Ruffles were bowled over with the quality and enthusiasm of the town’s gardeners.

“Small fortunes and many hours have been spent creating such stunning examples of horticulture,” said Elaine.

From English cottage gardens to the marvellous metamorphosis that won the Best Domestic Garden for a second, consecutive year, the decisions were tough.

When judging the best basket/container garden, it was soon very clear which garden had the wow factor.

Meeting winners Keith and Lesley King, Liz commented on how much effort had gone into making sure everything was pristine and all of the flowers in tip top condition.

This entry also won Best Doorway as the judges felt it was a “joy to behold”.

Ferrying the judges around the town, Caistor in Bloom chairman Deborah Barker said: “It is such a pleasure to show off our gardens looking their best. I extend a huge thank you to them for giving up their valuable time.”
