A popular annual flower festival will be assuming the themes of royalty and weddings for this weekend’s upcoming event.

St Andrew’s Church in Firsby will one again be hosting two days of attractive flower displays on Saturday from 10am to 6pm and again on Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

“This year especially it’s going to be centred around garden wedding arrangements,” said a spokesperson.

“There will also be a small display commemorating the Queen’s Coronation Jubilee.”

The wedding theme has been chosen to celebrate the union of two of the church’s ‘main stays’ Chris and Ken Whitbread and will feature many wedding pictures and special celebratory arrangements in their honour.

Funds raised over the weekend through raffles, tombolas and other stalls will go towards the struggling church funds.

“It’s usually a good money raising event for a small church like St Andrew’s - to raise in and around a thousand is a wonderful achievement and well worthwhile,” the spokesperson added.
