CHAPEL St Leonards will throw itself into the festive season when it holds its Christmas lights switch-on this Saturday, December 10.
The ceremony on the village green will be the culimination of a day of activities beginning at 4pm. During the afternoon there will be tombolas, raffles and the judging of Christmas decorations, leading up to the switch-on of the lights by the chairman of the council, Coun Christine Young at 6pm.
Alford Silver Band will lead the community in carols, and mince pies, mulled wine, tea and coffee will be provided without charge by the council. Revellers will also be able to indulge in late night shopping as local businesses will remain open. There will competitions for the best Christmas decorations in ‘pub’, ‘business’ and ‘house’ categories.
