Sizzling soul-food served with a tasty accompaniment of live blues music is the innovative new culinary concept whetting the appetites of music lovers and gastronomes at a Burgh le Marsh restaurant.
The Lakes restaurant by Sycamore Lakes has started hosting a regular Thursday night event offering diners a musical and gastronomic feast featuring talented local musicians and a delicious menu of soul-food inspired dishes.
Restaurant owner Jose Giraldez hopes his new night will provide an opportunity for Lincolnshire-based musicians to showcase their work while appealing to diners looking for entertainment while they eat.
He said: “We are trying to promote all the local bands from Lincolnshire - mainly blues bands but some other varieties as well.
“We’ve had two nights so far and the response has been really great from the diners and the bands.
“It creates a really nice night in the middle of the week for people in the Skegness area to come and have some tasty food at an affordable price and listen to some great bands,” Jose added.
The Lakes is normally known as a fine-dining restaurant, however Jose has cut his prices for the Thursday night event to make the event accessible to a wide range of people looking for an affordable and entertaining meal out.
Draught beer is also half price between 5.30pm and 7pm to encourage crowds to arrive early and ensure the bands can perform in front of a packed house.
The menu varies from week to week but always retains a soul-food theme and the popular platter of chicken, ribs corn on the cob and coleslaw.
The last band to perform at The Lakes, Slimline Papas went down so well with the audience that Jose has invited them back to play New Year’s Eve.
And tomorrow, Thursday, funk-blues band The Nadz will be taking to the stage from 7.30pm.
