Visitors are in store for an experience with a difference at a showground packed with hidden gems and bargains from as far afield as Germany, Holland and Belgium.

Hosted once more by experts in the field – Arthur Swallow Fairs – the flagship show will see hundreds of stallholders from all over the UK and Europe selling everything from jewellery and fine art to furniture and garden ornaments, and much more besides.

It’s the ideal hunting ground for collectors, interior and set designers, prop buyers, retailers, restaurant owners or anyone keen to snap up unusual or one-off items, each with an interesting story behind them.

Stalls indoors and outdoors

Bargain-hunters can browse stalls both outdoors and in marquees to land that must-have deal.

They might even find themselves mixing in celebrity circles as famous names in the film, TV and interior design industries are regular visitors to the shows.

Well-dressed designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and actor Richard E Grant have both dropped in at recent events run by Arthur Swallow Fairs .

The Arthur Swallow name began life almost 30 years ago when Peter Burgoin, an antique jewellery trader, started selling on the fairs circuit.

He later chose a business name, added the catchy slogan of “Follow the Swallow” and hosted his first antiques and collectors’ fair.

Antique and vintage items

Young sons Marc and Richard were never far from his side, cheerfully learning the ropes, and they now run the business together along with Peter’s daughter-in-law Anna.

Since then, Arthur Swallow Fairs has continued to grow and adapted to focus on the antiques, vintage and salvage market.

Its directors share a well-practised eye for reflecting the latest trends and giving buyers just what they’re looking for, plus a few surprises along the way.

Notable finds

Previous notable exhibits include a Japanese jug bought for less than £10 which later fetched £60,000 at Sotheby’s.

The second-generation of Burgoin entrepreneurs are also tutoring the third to take over the reins one day but with no need for encouragement.

“They’re already involved and love the whole experience,” said Marc, whose seven-year-old daughter Mila will be happily manning the gates in Lincoln. Cousins Frankie, 14, and Arthur, 12, will also don high-vis vests and help out where needed.
