‘Tree of Hope’ for NHS and key workers in Holton le Clay

A plaque has been placed alongside the ‘Tree of Hope’ which was planted by residents in Holton le Clay last summer to serve as a lasting tribute to NHS and key workers.

The installation of the plaque, in 8 Acres Field behind the village’s junior school, had been delayed until recent weeks due to the impact of the lockdown.

In addition to the new plaque and the young oak tree, a time capsule has been buried alongside it.

The new plaque reads: “This tree was planted by the residents of Holton Le Clay to serve as a lasting tribute to the brave NHS and Key Workers who have lost their lives in the Covid pandemic and to those who continue to work so hard to protect us. 2020.”

Jean Grosset, who spearheaded the Tree of Hope project, has thanked all those who were involved in providing their time and materials to enable the project to go ahead, including the village’s parish council which granted permission for it to happen.
