A ‘hard and gutsy’ rock musical will be brought to the stage at Blackfriars Theatre later this month.

Chess is a 1980s musical written by Abba’s musicians, Ulvaeus and Andersson, with lyrics by Tim Rice.

It will be brought to the stage by Boston Operatic Society (BOS)

Described as a ‘hard and gutsy rock musical’ - the production deals with the Cold War, political intrigue, and love between a Russian chessmaster and a beautiful American-Hungarian girl.

Several of the songs, including ‘One Night in Bangkok’ and ‘I Know Him So Well’, became international hits.

The show will run at the Spain Lane venue each night at 7.30pm from Monday, November 23 to Friday, November 27 - and on Saturday, November 28 at 1.30pm and 6.30pm.

Tickets cost £14.50 adults (conc £13). Family tickets cost £47. A 50p refurbishment levy will be added to each ticket.
