Magical fairytale-themed events are being held across Lincolnshire for the county’s little princes and princesses.
On offer are storytelling sessions, rhyme-times, creative activities and visits from the Bookstart Bear for children under the age of five, as part of National Bookstart Week.
The initiative aims to highlight the fun and benefits of reading with children and encourages mums, dads and carers to do so every day.
Councillor Patricia Bradwell, executive member for Children’s Services, said: “Bookstart helps give every child a flying start in life. Books are a great way to bond with your child and beneficial for their emotional well-being and future learning.”
This year, a free specially-commissioned Ugly Duckling booklet will be given away free to encourage people to continue reading with their young ones every day.
Events will take place at several libraries, children’s centres and pre-schools across Lincolnshire. For a full list, visit www.bookstart.org.uk.
The magic of the events will also continue on the website, which will feature an audio recording of the Ugly Duckling, competitions and other fairytale characters to discover.
