A light sabre battle broke out earlier this afternoon as the evil Darth Vader was challenged for the rule of the Hildreds Centre’s Skegness Parade float.

Several Jedi knights and Princess Leia duelled ferociously with the dark lord on the Wainfleet Road playing fields, as the contestants in this year’s parade prepared to set off.

The shopping centre’s choice themes in this year’s parade took inspiration from its International Star Wards Day event held earlier this year.

Deputy manager Steve Andrews added to his collection of droids with an impressive TIE Fighter recreation, marking the completion of three week’s hard work.

“We are just here to enjoy it,” said Steve.

“It’s always a fun event and we’ve supported it for each of the previous 25 year - we’ve not missed one yet.”
