BATEMAN’S Brewery in Wainfleet has got into the birthday spirit after it brewed up a special ale to celebrate the Lincolnshire Co-operative’s 150th birthday.

It has brewed the Big Birthday Beer especially for occasion and half-litre bottles are set to go on sale in all 70 of th elocal society’s stores.

The brewery’s director, Stuart Bateman, said fans of the brewery’s Combined Harvest and Summer Swallow ales would enjoy the Big Birthday Beer.

“It’s a full-flavoured golden ale, freshly hopped, with a biscuity taste.

“We’re really happy with it and we think Lincolnshire Co-op customers will be as well,” he said.

“We’re extremely proud to have been asked to brew this beer.

“We’re delighted to support the members, customers and staff who make the Society the success that it is. May it continue for another 150 years.”

The Co-op’s Supply Chain Manager Nicola Berry said: “Batemans Brewery has a long history of supplying fine ales to our foodstores and this is a great example of us working together with a local supplier on an exclusive product.

“We hope that lots of our customers take the chance to join in with our 150th celebrations by raising a glass of the Big Birthday Beer.”

The ale’s launch is one element of a summer of celebration marking 150 years since the local Co-op was formed.
