Mamane Barka.

Mamane Barka.

Alford Corn Exchange will be hosting an event on Thursday, May, 15, which will see Mamane Barka – The Lone Master of the Biram - visit the town for an evening of ‘beautiful, forgotten music’.

Mamane is the last exponent of the biram, an enormous boat-shaped five stringed harp, which is sacred to the people of Lake Chad.

The show is a chance to experience the extraordinary music and hear the fascinating story of Mamame’s quest to rescue this sacred harp from extinction.

The concert is part of the Lincolnshire Rural Touring Scheme, sponsored by the Arts Council.

The show begins at 8pm, and the entrance fee is £8.
