WAINFLEET United beat Fishtoft 3-2 after extra time, away in the first round of the Boston challenge cup.

Shaun Connolly scored first to give Wainfleet a 1-0 lead at half time.

Wainfleet keeper Joe Perry made some brilliant saves to ensure his team kept their lead.

In the second half, Fishtoft equalised to make it 1-1.

In extra time, Wainfleet went 2-1 up when Shaun Connolly scored his second goal.

Wainfleet had John Jeffries sent off, but the ten men of Wainfleet went 3-1 ahead when Bob Jackson scored.

Fishtoft scored a penalty to reduce the deficit to 3-2, but Wainfleet held on for victory.

FRISKNEY won this hard-fought local derby at Wainfleet in division three of the Boston and district league.

The first half was mainly even, with the Wainfleet goalkeeper Nick Mitchell making several superb saves.

The Friskney goal came virtually at the start of the second half to make it 1-0, and Wainfleet couldn’t find an equaliser.
