Unlucky Town taste third defeat in a row

Sills and Betteridge

Lincolnshire League

Skegness Town 1

Gainsborough Town 2

Skegness Town joint boss Gary Edgley said he was gutted for his players after watching them suffer their third consecutive defeat.

“We deserved at least a point,” he said. “The players worked so hard and created the better chances, but luck was once again against us.

Edgley also revealed that he was hoping to bring in a couple more players to help refresh the squad that has been hit by injuries of late.

After a goalless first half, the Hutchinson brothers, Steve and Leigh, netted either side of a John Courtney strike to bag the spoils.

For the second week running it was a late penalty that was Town’s undoing. This time awarded for a Joby Gowshall hand ball. The seasiders pressed for an equaliser, but to no avail and the visitors condemned them to their worst run of the campaign.

Skegness Town: Solomon, Nicholls, Parnham, Akers, Gowshall, Hardy, Reeson, Courtney, Papworth, Davison, Reid, Bee, Foreman.
