Swifts U13s taught harsh lesson
North Lindum Hawks 8
Swifts U13s 2
IT was a result to forget for Swifts U13s as they took on top of the table North Lindum Hawks on Sunday.
For the first ten minutes the visitors outplayed the hosts and created the better chances eventually taking the lead through Jack Bradley.
Unfortunately, Hawks are not top of the table for nothing and quickly pulled one back followed by a howler from Swifts keeper Sam Maidment who allowed the ball to bounce over him and into the goal.
This error seemed to unnerve the whole of the Swift team who became disjointed and lacklustre, despite the best efforts of man of the match Dominic Houltby and captain Naveed Shafiq to inject some pace and life into the team.
Some more woeful defending allowed the home team to take a commanding 4-1 lead into half-time.
The second half continued as the first with some more disjointed work allowing North Lindum Hawks to extend their lead even further.
Swifts kept plugging away and tried to find that breakthrough, but were unlucky with some tight offside decisions going against them.
Halfway through the second half, a re-organisation brought about some much needed determination and although another goal was conceded; at least opportunities at the other end were also being created.
This eventually led to Swifts second goal, coming right on full time from the boot of Jordan Chauhan.

Horncastle Town 4 Swifts JFC 2
THE home team started the strongest and were catching the visitors out in every part of the pitch.
With 10 minutes gone Horncastle broke through and scored first.
Moments later they got their second before securing their third at the halfway stage.
Swifts started better after the break and narrowed the gap with a great header by Jack Fulton from a corner. Tyler Rice got himself on the score sheet for the visitors with 20 minutes gone to make it 3-2.
And despite Swifts pushing hard for the equaliser it was Horncastle who finished the match 4-2 winners after a defensive mistake by Swifts.
