Smith raids Pat’s Pantry for angling honours
Chapel Beach Angling Club held their second match of the year on Saturday.
This match was rearranged from the previous week, when the match had to be cancelled due to bad weather.
The match was fished in the at Pat’s Pantry, in Chapel St Leonards.
There was a good turnout and all anglers caught something. All fish caught were Dabs, with the ever elusive Cod still not putting in an apperance.
The ongoing battle between Danny Smith and Mark Robinson continued, and Danny started hitting the fish straight away with Mark slowly following up.
The overall winner of the match and the winner of Bob’s Trophy was local angler Danny Smith with his total bag weight of 7lb 7-and-a-half-oz, beating Mark Robinson of Chapel, into second place with a total bag weight of 5lb 7oz.
Mark also won the prize for the biggest flat fish with his 33cm Dab.
In a close third place was another Chapel angler, Alan Jarvis, with a bag weight of 5lb 1oz. As no round fish was caught, the prize money for this is held by the club to be fished for by members at the end of the year.
The next match is this Saturday at Vickers Point between 9am and 1pm. With club members fishing for the Brian Hawkins Trophy.
There is also an open section for non-club members. Contact Michelle on chapelbeachanglingclub@hotmail.co.uk for details.
