Skegness 92 all out

Louth 95 for 1

(Louth won by nine wickets)

BEST bowling figures of the season from Louth’s Stuart West saw Skegness skittled out for 92 at Richmond Drive.

The medium pace swing bowler caused all sorts of problems for the patched up seasiders on his way to figures of eight for 44.

Without Pete Houghton and Carl Wilson, the home side never looked comfortable when facing West and they needed the help of 35 extras to get them anywhere near three figures.

Indeed, extras was their highest scorer as West and Co ripped through their defences.

Home skipper Tony Santini stepped up to the plate to lead his battle-weary troops from the front, opening the batting with Zimbabwe-born Norman Brackley.

They rode their luck during the early stages, frustrating Andy Carrington and West.

Carrington was particularly unlucky, having Brackley ‘caught behind’ off one of his nine no-balls as he struggled to get his run-up right.

The opening pair was finally separated by Carrington with the score on 33 when Santini became the first of wicket keeper Matthew Crowther’s five victims.

Eleven runs later West got the first of his eight wickets when he sent Paul Butler packing before the West/Crowther partnership removed Brackley (17).

When a Crowther stumping dismissed Wade McCall, Skegness were reeling on 56 for four and it was about to get a whole lot worse.

West continued to plough through the home batsmen and wrapped up the Skegness innings in the 34th over.

Louth knocked off the runs, for the loss of just one wicket, in the 30th over.

Despite losing Laurence Scott without scoring, Nuwan Shiroman saw them home with an unbeaten 72.

On Saturday, Skegness reach the halfway stage of the season with a trip to Market Deeping.
