Spalding 160 all out
Skegness 161 for four
by six wickets)
Skegness climbed two places in the ECB Lincs Premier League table following their first win of the season.
Pete Houghton was their hero with a knock of 85 as the seasiders kick-started their season with a maximum 20 points.
The win was a much-needed confidence boost going into Saturday’s match against last season’s runners-up Woodhall Spa at Richmond Drive.
After last week’s rain the toss was crucial and when the coin fell in Skegness skipper Norman Brackley’s favour he wasted no time in putting the home side into bat.
The seasiders restricted the South Lincs side to 160, giving Brackley’s men a real chance of their first taste of victory this season in the ECB Premier League.
The run chase was dominated by Houghton, who played some marvellous shots as the pitch dried out.
After putting on 63 for the first wicket with Scott Tallott, Houghton prevented the home side getting back into the match with some excellent batting and set his side up for a six-wicket victory.
