LAST WEEKEND saw a team of eight Skegness Coasters compete in the Adidas Thunder Run at Catton Park, Derbyshire.
This relay race saw Michael Hawkesford, Annabel Bradley, Ben Peel, Neil Mitchell, Andy & Helena Shelton and Nathan & Fiona Fisher take turns to complete as many 10,000 metre runs as they could during a 24-hour period.
The course was gruelling with steep hills and boggy forest paths, which had to be negotiated by headtorch lights only during the night runs.
The team achieved an impressive 22 laps between them (not including the practice runs) and were rewarded with t-shirts, medals and a huge dose of satisfaction.
Not content with running 40k each over the weekend, some of the team then travelled to Wales where they scaled the 1,085m high Mount Snowdon with a 10-mile round hike.
The Skegness Coasters is a running club catering for all abilities from beginners to seasoned runners. They meet on at 6.30pm on Tuesdays at the Welcome Inn, Skegness.
