THE X-Site skatepark in Skegness is celebrating after one of its own enjoyed competitive success against some fo the UK’s top skateboarders.

The park plays host to the UK Miniramp Skateboard championships every year after it was identified by the UK Skateboard Association as having one of the best facilities in the UK.

The tournament attracts some of the UK’s finest athletes, and visitors from as far afield as Scotland, Wales and the south coast were among the 800 visitors this time round.

This year was very productive for several of the skatepark’s regulars, with six locals receiving sponsorship from national and international companies.

So it was no surprise when Ryan Hurt, 16, from Skegness, placed six in the finals of the Pro-competition despite riding against the UK’s top skateboarders.

“We would like to take this time to congratulate Ryan Hurt, Ben Devine and Ollie Beeby on their impressive results, and Georgina Noble who placed 5th in the girls contest,” said Toby Walker, the chairman of the skatepark.
