Shabby Town stung by five

Sills and Betteridge Lincolnshire League

Skegness Town 0 Nettleham 5

SKEGNESS Town’s Jekyll and Hyde season continued with a 5-0 home defeat at the hands of Nettleham.

On the back of their point at champions Skegness United only two nights earlier, the Lilywhites will be disappointed to have performed so poorly. But there were eight changes from the side that prevented their neighbours grabbing the bragging rights for the second time this season.

And Town were up against a group of players vying for positions in this weekend’s Challenge Cup Final starting line-up.

One would assume that one of the first on the teamsheet will be Josh Bowden, who scored a hat-trick against the Lilywhites, while Jack Darby, a consistent performer for the Nettles this season can expect to feature in the showpiece event against Boston United Reserves.

Darby scored the other two goals as Skegness crumbled.

No doubt the fixture backlog is beginning to take its toll, but Town will have to up their game at Cleethorpes on Saturday if they are going to wrestle sixth spot from Nettleham.
