Rugby: Grimsby 3rds 11, Skegness 2nds 20
Skegness travelled for a Merit League fixture that was a full-bloodied battle.
Grimsby opened their account early with a penalty to take the lead.
The game swung back into Skegness’ favour with a try from the industrious Rickie Taylor admirably supported by Cameron and Hanson. The mature centres combination of Jackson and Hill proved invaluable with strong, direct running.
Tremendous defensive play by Tasker and Phil Taylor opened up opportunities for the hard working Cameron to lead to Nightingale, driving forward hard to score a try.
Skegness entered the last 15 minutes on the back foot, however their full-bloodied commitment shone through.
Tim Farnsworth and Ollie Jackson came on in the second half to add to the side’s momentum.
