TIME trial action was centred on Donington this week, when the Spalding Club promoted the county 25 mile championship on behalf of the Lincolnshire RRA.
The riders had to cover a course along the A52 to Osbournby roundabout, before taking the A15 to the outskirts of Sleaford and back.
Weather conditions were good, but the hot weather did not suit everybody.
Alford riders were again amongst the awards, with 16-year-old Peter Rothery ‘under the hour’ for the second week running, with a personal best of 59 mins 13 secs to take first prize, the junior trophy, and also first in the handicap section.
His team-mate John Needham recorded 1 hr 6 mins 3 secs, which secured second place for him in the veterans standard category, with a plus of 14 mins 38 secs.
Other Alford riders were: Chris O’Rourke 1-0-26, Mick Pell 1-3-04, Brendon Thomas 1-5-24, Ryan Thomas 1-7-25, Arthur Middleton 1-11-40, and Stuart Waumsley 1-17-42.
In the midweek 10 mile league, the winner was again Phil Heyes in 23 mins 40 secs, with Peter Rothery second in 23-56 and Mark Hill third in 24-09.
Other top placings were: fourth, Eddie Kaye 24-22; fifth, Mick Pell 24-58; sixth, Nick Cooper 25-22; seventh, Mark Bembridge 25-41; eighth, Brendon Thomas 25-42; ninth, John Needham 26-01; tenth, Stefan Bryan 26-06.
