New ladies’ rounders league

LADIES in the Skegness area are being encouraged to join a new rounders league.

The sessions started on Monday and the league will start a few weeks later; giving ladies the chance to have a go at the sport before committing to a league.

Rachel Belcher is the Rounders Development Officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership.

She said: “The league has been established following the success of similar leagues in Lincoln and Market Rasen where over 170 ladies are regularly taking part.

“It’s such good fun and a great evening out; I would encourage anyone with fond memories of rounders at school to come and have a go.”

Ladies are encouraged to attend individually, in a small group or in a team of nine – there will be a chance to meet new people and Rachel will organise teams on the night.

A member of the Lincoln Ladies Rounders League said: “I didn’t think it was my thing when I first heard about the league but I’m delighted I gave it a go; I have missed it over the winter and can’t wait to start up again this summer. I enjoy playing with all my friends and having a laugh with the other teams; it’s great fun.”

The sessions run on Mondays from 7pm at the Queen Elizabeth Playing Fields, Chapel Road, Ingoldmells. Anyone aged 16 plus is welcome to join.
