Alford Badminton Club has started the new season with a win in the Mixed Doubles against Stickney and hopes to improve on its successful 2011/2012 season.
The club now runs three teams in the Boston league - a men’s team, a mixed team and a ladies’ team.
All three teams competed well last year with the men’s team particularly having a very successful year.
They won the second division championship and reached the semi-final of the knockout competition.
The ladies also enjoyed a good first season in the ladies’ league.
The men start their campaign with a tough game against last year’s champions Boston East.
The Ladies team of Jacqui Hurren, Sally Dunnett, Fran Poulsom, Gemma Lidgard, Val Cook and Claire Simpson had a really good first season and acquitted themselves well.
They are now hoping to build on their experience this season.
Despite the success of all three teams, the Alford Badminton Club (ABC) is always looking for new club and team members.
The club now has two England Level 1 badminton coaches, in Paul Lock and Neil Poulsom, and the new coaching evenings have started.
If anyone is interested in playing or attending coaching sessions, contact either Alford Sports Hall on 01507 463867 or ring Neil Poulsom on 01507 463410.
