A HAT-TRICK for Lee Orrey earned Skegness a league double over new boys Market Rasen Town at Rase Park.

Orrey struck twice in the first half and added a third 15 minutes from the end, as Skegness leapfrogged their opponents into 10th place in the table.

The healthy gathering at Rase Park were still settling into their seats when Orrey swept the visitors in front, after stealing in behind the last defender, and his fourth minute finish gave home keeper Dale Christie no chance.

The closest the home side came to drawing level was an 18th minute shot from Smith that scraped the outside of Emery’s left hand post.

To add insult to injury, the dangerous Orrey sneaked between defence and keeper to double the seasiders’ lead.

Three minutes after the interval, the home crowd were chanting ‘Fernando’ when Orrey failed to complete his hat-trick, fluffing a chance reminiscent of the one Chelsea’s Torres missed against Manchester United.

Rasen continued to play some neat football and when they did get in behind the seasiders, Smith glanced a shot off the outside of Emery’s other post.

Tom Dickinson replaced his injured brother, Peter, and added more steel to the visitors’ midfield, while Dan Tuplin led by example with some strong tackles.

Soon after, Tom Dickinson floated the ball into the area, and Orrey rose to head home his third of the day.

Rasen were denied a consolation goal in injury time when a ball over the Skegness defence fell kindly to Andrew Bell, who did everything right with his first time volley but Emery stretched to claw away the danger.

Skegness Town Reserves recorded their first win of the season when they beat Woodhall Spa United 3-1, at Burgh Road.
