Members of Skegness Triathlon Club made their way to Burton Waters near Lincoln on Sunday for their first Triathlon race of 2014.
More than 500 competitors set out swimming the 400 meter swim in waves of 6 every couple of minutes.
On exiting the pool it was a 100m dash to transition for the start of the 15 mile bike leg. Although dry the wind was strong in places out on the course and combined with a steep ascent up Burton hill, made some parts tough going.
From the top of the hill heading back towards Saxilby speeds of up to 40mph were reached coming down. Heading back into transition for the run leg took the competitors out on the river tow path for a 3.1 mile run. The sun was shining down and the heat was beginning to show on some of the competitors.
The Skegness Triathlon members came in strong over the finish line with huge cheers from their supporters.
Team member Rich Vincent said: “It was a great day that everyone enjoyed and was a first Triathlon for Michael Irving, so a massive well done to him.”
