Skegness Amateur Swimming Club held their first Pointscore of 2014 at their meet on Friday January 31.

The Pointscore competition is open to all members of the Club who compete against their personal best times and gain points for improvement in a series of six meets throughout the year.

Trophies are awarded to the top three boys and girls who gain the most points thorough the year and awards are made to the top boy and girl swimmer for each individual meet.

The January meet exceeded everybody’s expectations, coming after a month’s break over the

Christmas period (giving swimmers a well-earned break), with 34 members attending.

This pointscore was a great success with over 92.5 percent of the participating swimmers gaining personal best times in one or more events.

The top swimmer awards went to Owen McGreechan, Thomas Webster and William Cooper in the boy’s competition with all three scoring a maximum of 30 points and to Amelia Hall, Isabel Carter and Stephanie West in the Girls competition who also gained the maximum 30 points.

Individual times are graded A, B or C and the following members achieved B grades in two events: Alex Parker, Alexander Vickers, Isabel Carter, Lucy Parker and the following achieved B grades in one event: Owen McGreechan, Talia White and William Cooper which indicates these members are achieving county qualifying times.

The club thanks all the coaches, poolside helpers and club members for their help and look forward to more positive results throughout 2014.

A team will aso compete at the Doncaster Dartes meet at Beverly, Hull on Thursday, April 20 and their next pointscore meet will be on Friday, April 25 at the Embassy Pool, Skegness.

The Club are currently looking for new members (6 years old and upwards) at all levels and invite swimmers to a free taster session on Monday’s 6pm – 7pm, Thursday’s 6pm – 7pm and Friday 6pm – 8pm.
