Skegness Amateur Swimming Club have welcomed a former international competitor to their coaching ranks.
A chance meeting saw Waterwise co-ordinator Mark Baily get talking to Agata Jedrzychowska at a public swimming session at the Embassy Pool.
He discovered that Agata had come to Skegness from Poland to be with her partner, and really wanted to get into coaching after training in synchronised swimming back home.
Agata, 24, arrived at the club on Thursday night for her first training session, where every new volunteer has to fill out a form to join and also be DBS checked.
Part of this form is a section on swimming achievements, where members were pleased to discover the words ‘I competed for my country for 10 years in the Junior European Championships’.
On Friday night, under the watchful eye of head coach Charles Rogers, Agata put the squad through their paces, teaching them how to improve their sculling.
From September 3, training for the Performance Squad will take place on Sundays from 2-4pm, Monday’s 5-7pm, Thursdays 6-8pm and Fridays 6-8pm.
Training for the Development Squad, Pre-Training Squad, training for fitness and Waterwise also takes place within these times.
Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to meet officials at the Embassy Pool when they start back on September 3, or to contact Kim Baker on 07887 505 995.
