Woodhall Spa was awash with black and orange on Sunday as a record number of almost 60 Skegness & District Running Club members competed in the 19th running of the popular Woodhall Spa 10k

It was a warm start to the day and temperatures continued to rise as runners made their way towards Stixwould before returning to Woodhall Spa to finish in a packed Jubilee Park.

A total of 1,026 runners completed the race and first back for the club in third place overall and first in his age group was Mark Sands in an amazing time of 33 mins 41 secs, reducing the club record by more than two minutes in the process.

Stuart Cragg was next back in 35 mins 56 secs to finish 23rd overall and fifth in his age group.

Matt West was third back for the club in 40 mins 17 secs.

For the ladies, Fallon Lafferty also set a new club record, recording a fast time of 43 mins 09 secs and finishing 17th lady overall.

Beckie Dawson was the 21st lady and sixth in her category in a good time of 44 mins 27 secs while Helen Blair set another personal best time of 44 mins 45 secs as the 22nd lady to finish.

The youngest runner in the race was new member Matthew Eggleton, who turned 15 just two days before the race.

He made a good 10k debut, recording a time of 62 mins 01 secs, while fellow 15-year-old Logan Graves clocked his third sub-45 minute 10k, finishing in 44 mins 12 secs.

Post race the new Skegness & District gazebo was in full use as members made the most of the sunny weather, enjoying nibbles and ice creams in Jubilee Park as part of their warm down.
