Smoothounds abundant at Chapel

Chapel Beach Angling Clubs latest match was held on Saturday, August 3.

The match was held at Huttoft Car Terrace between 3pm and 7pm.

It was a fine day with a Southerly breeze and the sea was calm.

A small turnout was had for the match but it didn’t put off the Smoothhound who were in abundance.

The winner of the match was Corby’s Paul Marshall with a total bag weight of 15lb 5oz which included 3 smoothhounds and a flounder.

His catch would have been bigger if it wasn’t for the four smoothound who managed to get away.

In second place also with a smoothound was Barry Staniland with a bag weight of 5lb 3oz, Barry also lost a smoothound.

In third place came Glyn Davies who caught a 32cm flounder. The winner of the biggest round fish prize went to Barry Staniland for his Smoothound and the winner of the flat fish prize went to Paul Marshall for his flounder.

The club’s next match is on Saturday, April 17 and will be held on the beach behind The Grange and will be fished between 1.30pm and 5.30pm.
