Skegness Stadium set for Fun Day racing action

SKEGNESS Stadium will hold its latest ‘Fun Day’ spectacular this Sunday, July 8.

The event all kicks off at 1.45pm with a parade of vehicles racing, which include Big Vans Banger racing!

“These are transit size vans, with roll cages in and they do banger racing,” said a spokesperson.

“Alongside the Vans are the popular Rockin Robins. It’s hard enough to keep four wheels on the ground in banger racing but when there is only three wheels absolute mayhem is guaranteed as they rollover and the drivers rock them to put them back right way up.

“Rookie Bangers will also be competing in the Lincolnshire Open Championship, while 1600cc MOT rejectswill also be racing and crashing on this tight and tricky surface.

“The younger members of the family will be taken care of with the Junior Rods - a non-contact formula for kids from 12 to 15-years-old.

“There are even the younger six to 12-year-old Mini Sprint drivers, who take part in scaled-down models of Sprint cars - and don’t be fooled by their age they really go for it.

“And for the first time we will welcome a display from Drift racing doing a display of how they drift their cars.

“You can win a ride in one of the cars; raffle tickets in aid of the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance will be on sale, and then we will pick out a couple of tickets for the chance to go in the cars.”

Tickets, if bought in advance, are £10.99 for adults. Gate price on the day is £13.50p.

Entry for juniors aged 13-to-15-years is £5, while children 12-and-under go free.

“We have a large free car park, plenty of catering units, and bars, and a large covered grandstand area if the weather’s a bit iffy,” continued the spokesperson. “We would recommend you purchase advance tickets and arrive early, Turnstiles open at 1230pm.”
