Entries were down for the darts trebles event at the Ex Service last week,
Only nine out of the 18 league teams entered, although some teams entered more than one trio, and there was two teams made up of spare players.
The prelims threw up some interesting games with the second division’s Royal Oak A, comprising of A Pringle, T Parkin, and M Kirby, taking on the first division’s Barkham A and beating them 2-1.
The 501s - L Woods, K Dickinson and D Manson - beat the Oaks’ other team by 2-0.
In the quarter-finals, heroes of the last round Royal Oak took on the favourites, WMC Steelers, and it was the Steelers’ C Abbiss, K Thein and M Thompson Who made short work of them, beating them 2-0.
The 501s took on the Mixers, a team comprising of S Barker, I Chamberlain and C Fletcher, and it was the latter who went through.
Seaview took on last year’s runner’s up WMC Aces and it was the Aces trio of M Seagers, M Jones, and D Redding that had the edge and moved through to the semi-final. Their opponents were Wainfleet Outsiders’ team of L Yates, M Bell, and R Garner, as they despatched the Barkham B by 2-1 in their quarter-final game.
Steelers took on the Mixers in a cracker of a game in the semi-final, where, in the first leg, there were 3 x 180s and for C Abbiss, and K Thein, and I Chamberlain. The Steelers took this in 19 darts and then won the next to ease their way into the final.
The other semi-final saw a repeat of last year’s final and it was the same result, as the Outsiders beat the Aces 2-0.
In the final, Steelers took the opening leg and looked to be in control, but back came the outsiders to reel off the next two and claim the win.
This week sees the Liberal club pairs at the Liberal club, enter on the night £2 per pair.
The summer league held its joining meeting and 13 teams have now registered, the divisions and fixtures will be available in the next couple of weeks and organisers say it is looking likely that two divisions will compete.
