Playing their last league match of the year at home against Spalding on Thursday, Skegness Men’s Over 60 squad could not improve their league position.

They won on two of the five rinks in an overall 93 shot to 84 defeat, 14 points to four.

There was a great win for the Skegness rink of Keith Findley, Mac McAlindon, Rob Rankin and David Hudson, who denied a rink skipped by former Skegness Men’s captain Maurice Elding with a 27 shots to six card.

John Clarke, Gordon Farr, Peter Ord and Graham Farndon added a 15-11 win.

Colin Scott, Roy Brummitt, Jack Bray and John Sampson were level, 17-17, playing the last end but finished with a disapointing three shots scored against them for a 17-20 loss.

Considered among the favourites to win the Club Men’s Triples competition, John Mountain, George Curley and Bryn Foxon found the determined trio of Alan Brumitt, Graham L. Simpson and David Briggs in good form when losing by 18 shots to eight.

Playing in two rounds of the Club Men’s Pairs over last weekend, Brian Hawes and David Conroy accounted for Dave Warren and Ken Startin, 26-15, as well as Derek Tasker and Peter Ord, 19-6, to proceed into the final rounds.

David Briggs with Peter Ord and Roy and Alan Brummitt led until the 16th end of their Lincolnshire Men’s County Rinks tie with John Mountain, Johnny Morris, Brian Hawes and Gary Morris, who eventually took control after drawing level, 11-11, and winning the remaining ends with some big scores to take the game by 23 shots to 11.
