Hoping for a quick return to the First Division of the Lincolnshire Men’s County League, the Skegness men pulled out all the stops to defeat Stamford “B” in a second división match at Wainfleet Road.

Winning on all five rinks for 18 points, the top Skegness rink was Derek Tasker, Keith Findley, Alan Brummitt and Brynn Foxon who won 30-10.

All rinks contributed to the 124 shots to 63 victory and their scores were Dave Conroy 23-14, Brian Hawes 20-12, Gary Morris 31-18, Alan Irving 20-9.

A re-vitalised Skegness Men’s Over 60s “B” team finally found form with a great 105 shots to 83 win at home against league leaders Sleaford, which earned them 15 points to Sleaford’s three.

The established rink of Keith Findley, Mac McAlindon, Rob Rankin and David Hudson lead the scoring with a 27-16 card. Solid support came from Peter Hawkyard, Brian Chapman, Graham Farndon and Peter Sylvester with a 24-14 card.

The Morris brothers Gary and Johnny, with Brian Hawes, stormed to a 20 shots to three win over John Mountain, George Curley and Bryn Foxon in the club rounds of the County Men’s Triples.

Playing in the same competition Ken Startin, Dave Warren and Bob Arnold had a 21-8 advantage against Dave Briggs, Peter Ord and Alan Brummitt.

Contesting the Ladies’ event and scoring nine shots in three ends paved the way for Alice Salmon, Brenda Rice and Mandy Brummitt to post a 22-20 win in a close match with Muriel Coulson, Val Huggins and Lynne Rigby.

Skegness Ladies were totally overwhelmed when meeting a strong Lincoln squad in the Ladies’ National “Yetton Trophy”. They lost on all rinks at home and away. A 19-17 loss by Joan Usher, Janet Holland, Ann Ladums and Brenda Manning was the best Skegness could manage in a 115 shot to 48 defeat.
