The Skegness Over 60s Men who play in the club’s Football League games took advantage of the seasonal break in the league programme to contest the first round of the “Fred Bray” knockout Trophy.
Representing Spurs, Dennis Teesdale, John Thorold and Bert Crofts beat Wigan with 26 shots to six.
Leicester, with Brian Wood, John Banner and Peter Sharp, scored 19 to Aston Villa’s 12.
John Clarke skipped Man Utd with Dave Briggs and Pete Humphries to a 22-11 win against Man City. Wolves started slowy but Neil Salmon, Peter Ord and Malcolm Sands gradually took control to beat Liverpool 18-12.
There was a great result for John Clarke and Don Bramley in their Club Men’s Pairs match with Johhny and Gary Morris, winning 17-11.
In the other ties Dave Briggs and Graham L Simpson went through to the next round after beating Neil Salmon and Alan Brummitt, 19-15.
Mac McAlindon and Rob Rankin were never headed in a match with Pete Rusher and Bob Arnold, 15-10.
And Roy Brummitt and Steve Wiltshire scored well to win 21-11 against Carl and Mick York.
Thirty club members took part in a post Xmas Bowls Drive organised by Angie Fox and Gordon Farr.
The event was heralded a great success and enjoyed by all. Taking the honours were Ralph Ferrier, a relatively new member who took the top prize, followed by Peter O’Leary in second and Ian Ward in third. Following on from this successful start similar events are planned.
