Friday brought the final qualifier where 22 players vied for a chance to compete alongside BDO World Championship finalist Tony O’Shea.

Jamie Cooper edged a tense final game against Barry Grenfell to claim the coveted place.

Jass Smith and Alan Warriner-Little took on Gary Garton and Peter Manley in the first game of the Pro-Am, and it was the latter duo who got the result 3-1.

The battle of Bateman’s Brewery pitted Lee Yates and Ian White against Martin Bell and Jamie Caven in a tense game. The scoreline was the same as Martin and Jamie came through 3-1.

Third on was Mark Gray with Steve Beaton against Brad Martin and Scott Waites who moved into the semi-final with a 3-2 win.

In the last first round tie, Jamie Cooper and Tony O’Shea raced into a 2-0 lead against Mark Forman and Andy Smith, only to see Mark and Andy level it at two-all. Jamie got the winning double to seal a 3-2 win.

The Bell and Caven partnership crushed Garton and Manley 3-0, but in the other semi, Cooper again came to the rescue, checking out on the bull with an 86 finish in the deciding leg to put himself and O’Shea through to the final.

Caven and Bell went on to win a cracking final to bring the curtain down on the biggest night of darts Skegness has ever seen.
