Skegness Coasters trio complete the Great North Run

The Skegness Coasters had a very busy day on Sunday with runners competing in the Great North Run, the East Coast Classic 10K and the Skegness Duathlon.

In warm, sunny conditions, Nathan Fisher and Rachel Shinn completed the Great North Run half-marathon together in 2hr and 35mins.

Phaedra Bryant was the first Coaster back, finishing in 2.23.41, gaining a personal best in her second half-marathon.

* Over at Mablethorpe, runners took on an out-and-back course along the promenade to Sutton-on-Sea.

Ben Evison won the race in a very impressive time of 33min 37secs, while Martin Jessop finished in 49.15.

Other Coasters to finish were Janet Harmston (52.59), Neil Stocks (53.31), Paul Whitfield (53.27), Suzanne Wain (54.10), Sue Smith (56.59) and Katie Moore (1hr 06min 38secs).

* The Skegness Duathlon, which started and finished at Richmond Caravan Park, consisted of a one-mile run followed by a 10K bike ride then another mile run.

Sam Bradley won the event in 28min 42secs, while Neil Mitchell was fourth in 31.34 and Mark Harvey fifth in 31.44.

Other competitors from the club were Andy Wilkinson who finished in 37 minutes, Lorraine Clarke (45.27), Claire Parker (48.37) and Katie Green (time yet to be confirmed).
