SDRC runners hit the roads at the weekend

Skegness and District Running Club saw 17 members taking part in three road events.

Dan Francis and Melanie Standbrook took on the Ashby 20-miler in Leicestershire.

Dan completed the course in 3:12.17 with Melanie seconds behind in 3:12.54.

Angela Thompson completed the first 10 miles as a training run.

Ten club members also took on the 20-mile distance over at Hull.

Mark Sands was the eighth runner overall in 1:59.21 and he also claimed the first place prize for his age category and set a new SADRC record for the distance in the process.

Next to complete the flat rural course were Eddie Smith (2:21.10), Andy Shelton (2:26.09) and Matthew West (2:37.59), closely followed by Emma Marshall-Telfer.

She picked up second place in her category, while Odette Arundell, Sarah Hyde and Catriona Kiss ran together in a time of 3:08.56.

Clocking 3:21.39 and 3:33.19 respectively were Helen Kirk and Michael Bruce.

The Gainsborough and Morton 10k included four Skegness and District runners.

Alan Wheeler finished in 38.29, ahead of Steve Curtis (44.14), Sarah Smith (56.10) and Robin Harrison (1:01.07).
