Sarah Budby attended the Silverstone track on March 29 for the Ford Media day,
Sarah was testing in her 2.0 litre Fiesta ST against 40 other drivers that will be racing in the same class.
This was only Sarah’s second time out in the car and picked up pace very quickly,
“Sarah turned heads all over and met a lot of new people and supporters and also caught the eyes of TV Presenters’” said a Budby team spokesperson.
Sarah’s times dropped throughout the day and came to the point where she couldn’t push any more, despite still needing to find a bit of extra time, Sarah was testing on 10 month old slicks which cost her a second in the time.
Slick tyres need to be replaced every race weekend to keep on top form and despite the tyres costing Sarah a second round on the track she managed to get within a second from the fastest man there.
Sarah is looking forward to her first race meeting this weekend as the only female out of 40 drivers on track.
Sarah said: “Being the only female doesn’t bother me, in fact it excites me more, I stand out from the crowd and once the helmets on we are all out there to do the same.
“Not many men like to be beaten by a girl, so I have my work cut out and there will more than likely be contact from hot-headed drivers, but I’ve done this since the age of 11 and I’m used to it but I won’t hesitate to give as good as I get, bring it on.”
Sarah is currently looking for a tyre sponsor. A team spokesperson said: “With television coverage for every race it’s a great way to get some exposure.”
