Skegness came out narrowly on top in this tremendously well fought contest.

Uphill and against the wind Skegness took an early lead through the strong running and powerful Shaun Chamberlain, who has made a huge impact on the team.

Admirable defence epitomised this promising and hard-working Skegness side.

Barton battled admirably but sound defence from Hardy, Thompson and Delafontayne kept Skegness in the game.

Hill took the game to Barton, admirably backed by Spiers and Taylor, however the travelling side failed to score again before half-time.

The second half saw Skegness on the attack once more with the impressive Lempard and James Chamberlain creating opportunities for Holiday and the hard-working Potts to push towards the line.

The front row combination of Linnell Farnsworth (sub) Wheeler and Delafontayne stood steadfast throughout.

As Skegness closed in on the try line, admirably defended by Barton, Dave and Nath Hotchen drove the game forward creating pressure and gaining ground.

The game grew to a conclusion without any further points being added but for tremendous defensive displays being applied by both sides.

Matt James made a welcome debut to the Skegness side, maintaining strength and direction.

The final whistle came with this Skegness side of vastly varied age range and massive commitment to each other and the club, running out well-deserved winners.
