Fish of the year winners

Heaviest round fish, Alan Steadman, 12lb smoothound; heaviest flatfish, Daniel Leighton, 11lb 8oz flounder; heaviest silver eel, Paul Marshall, 11lb.

A match was held the day after the AGM, from Winthorpe Avenue, Skegness, and fish were hard to come by.

Seven anglers managed to catch a single flatfish each, with Kettering’s Bob Foster catching a fine 1lb specimen to take first place and the heaviest flatfish prize.

Ending a disastrous run of poor results, Skegness local Dave Bradley came in second with an 8oz dab, and also took the heaviest round fish award by default.

There was a tie for third place, with both Mablethorpe’s Kevin Bebbington and Wrangle’s Alan Steadman weighing in 6oz flounders.

Next match will be held on Sunday, February 27, from 11.30am-3.30pm, at North Shore Road, with members fishing for the Gordon Long cup.

There will also be an open section, which non-SPAC members are welcome to participate in.
