Woodlands Fishery in Spilsby is launching a brand new winter fishing league for 2014.

The new league, which forms part of a partnership with the Angling Trust, encourages more anglers onto the bank and into fishing.

The league will run from December to March and take place on the last Sunday of each month at Spilsby fishery:

The events start on Sunday, December 29, with further dates planned for January 26, February 23 and March 30.

Entry to each match is £6 with optional pools coming in at £4. In addition, all anglers will be instantly entered into the Angling Trust’s National Fishing League and be in with a chance to win £500.

The player draw will take place at 9am on the morning of the event, with fishing then running from 10am until 4pm.

James Roche, Regional Officer for the Angling Trust, commented: “Woodlands Fishery offers some fantastic winter fishing across its 5 well stocked lakes, making it an ideal venue to host a competitive series of matches.”

“We know that competition & the social interaction is a key driver in getting anglers out on the bank more often.

“As a result we have been working with Woodlands Fishery to organise a series of matches that are in reach of any angler and as result provide incentives to get out during the colder months”.
