THE Skegness Grammar School under 16 Boys’ Table Tennis team are through to the regionsl finals of an English Schools Table Tennis tournament after enjoying success in the zone tournament in Bedford recently.

The team represented Lincolnshire and competed against schools from Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Suffolk.

The boys won through the preliminary pool stage and met Bedfordshire in the semi finals.

Victory secured their place in the final against Leicestershire and as a result of this match Skegness Grammar School have won through to the Regional Finals to be held in Blackburn, Lancashire at the end of February.

“Ross and Tom Jarvis played superbly as the mainstay duo of the team, in line with their national rankings,” said a school spokesperson.

“Some of the matches these two played were fabulous to watch and and certainly raised the bar for future tournaments.

“The other members of the squad, without the playing experience ar ability of Ross or Tom played really well to secure a memorable team victory,” they added.

Accompanying the team were table tennis coaches Hong Hong Peebles and Nigel Roylance.
